ADU Before & After in Santa Clarita, CA
Talk to any homeowner in Valencia, Saugus, or Canyon Country who’s been through an ADU build and they’ll tell you the same thing: the renderings are nice, but the after-photos are what made them pick up the phone. This is where the promise gets tested. A garage that spent years as a storage locker becomes a one-bedroom with its own address. A side yard that baked in the Santa Clarita sun becomes a rental unit with a covered porch. We’re putting the proof on the page. Every photo below represents a real job scenario we’ve built for families in this valley.

Detached Garage to One-Bedroom ADU in Saugus
The garage had good bones but no insulation, one electrical circuit, and a slab that sloped toward the door. We reinforced the pad, added a full plumbing rough-in for a kitchenette and bath, and reframed the front elevation to read as a home rather than a place to park a car. The result is a 480-square-foot unit with its own entrance off the side yard, a mini-split, and drywall so tight you’d never guess a workbench used to live in there. Ben walked this one through the framing punch list himself, mostly because the existing roofline wanted to argue about where the bedroom window was supposed to go.
Side-Yard ADU on a Flag Lot in Canyon Country
This lot had a long, narrow side yard that collected weeds and the neighbor’s stray basketballs. We designed a 500-square-foot detached unit that hugs the setback, leaving the main home’s backyard fully intact. The family wanted their college-age son to have his own place without moving across town, which changed how we positioned the entry, the window line, and the noise path from the porch to the main house. The finished unit has a full bath, a kitchen with a two-burner cooktop, and a porch that faces the morning shade.
Interior Home Addition for a Growing Family in Stevenson Ranch
The house had three bedrooms and a living room that doubled as the kids’ playroom, the home office, and the place where the treadmill went to die. We opened the rear wall and added 300 square feet that steps down into a new family room, with a slider to the side yard. The structural header work had to be coordinated with the existing truss layout, which is the kind of detail that matters a lot more after the drywall is up than before it goes in. The family gets a dedicated kids’ space, and the living room finally has a couch against a wall.
Prefab ADU Placement with Foundation and Utility Work in Valencia
The homeowners had already spent months researching Abodu, Cover, and Boxabl before calling us. Their concern wasn’t the product, it was the lot: grading, drainage, utility trenching, and the foundation detail the factory doesn’t handle. We prepped the pad, pulled the permits, ran electrical and plumbing from the main house to the pad, and coordinated the delivery window so the crane didn’t have to argue with the neighbor’s juniper. The unit arrived, was set, and was finished out with a Hardie exterior and a front landing you could actually put a chair on.
Carport Conversion to Studio ADU in Newhall
The carport was sheltering a single car that hadn’t been driven in two years. We enclosed the structure, raised and leveled the floor assembly, insulated the walls and ceiling, and added a bath and kitchenette within the original footprint. Newhall has plenty of these older carport structures, and they’re often a smarter starting point than a ground-up build because the roof and pad are already there. The finished studio rents to a local teacher, and the homeowners’ actual garage stays full of the things garages are supposed to hold.
